The New Recommendations page is a complete guide of today's Barchart Opinions. The Summary Page links to a detailed page for each Indicator's Buy/Sell/Hold rating. Barchart Opinions show traders what a variety of popular trading systems are suggesting in terms of going long or short the market.
Note: Opinions on each symbol are updated every 20 minutes throughout the day, using delayed data from the exchanges. A security needs to have at least 201 active trading days in order to generate an Opinion reading.
What's Included
To be included as a new recommendation, a Forex contract must have at least 201 active trading days in order to calculate an Opinion, a last month's Opinion, and a 20-Day Average Volume greater than or equal to 100.
The top of the Summary page provides links to the forex contracts that are at a 100% Buy or a 100% Sell Opinion. Click on the number to get the full list of forex contracts.
The remainder of the page — Today's New Indicators — contains the listing of forex contracts whose indicators have changed to a new Buy, Sell or Hold signal for the time period selected at the top of the Summary page. Each of the indicators have a subset of forex contracts, which can be accessed by clicking on the number for each of the indicator's signal.
Time Frames
There are two time frames to choose from, found in the data table's toolbar:
- Intraday - The list of Forex contracts to display is re-ranked every 10 minutes. However, Forex contracts are not automatically added or removed from the Summary page until the site performs its 10-minute update.
- Daily - The list of Forex contracts to display is updated once a day at approx. 8pm EST. Opinions for each indicator were calculated using the closing data from the previous trading session.
During active trading, you will see new price information on the page, as indicated by a "flash" on the fields with new data. Forex prices are delayed 10 minutes, per exchange rules, and trade times are listed in CT.
About Barchart Opinions
The Opinions takes up to 2 years' worth of historical data and runs these prices through thirteen different technical indicators. After each calculation, the program assigns a buy, sell or hold value for each study, depending on where the price lies in reference to the common interpretation of the study. For example, if the price is above the moving average of the stock then this is generally considered an upward trend or a buy.
